Bah Humbug - Why People Who Believe in Jesus Aren't Worth a Pinch of Salt
I had one person respond here all in a pissy fit that I have no time for religion. Religion is fine. I don't care. It is part of America's freedom, and I'm the last guy to want to take that away from you. But let me tell you, I groan when I hear or read someone upset that I think holy rollers have it wrong.
I'll lay it out for you. There are a few kinds of holy rollers. I'm not talking denominations and whatever. That's an entirely different something. I'm talking personality types. All but one do not have my respect. See the last category.

- Some cram what they believe down your throat. Every conversation has an agenda. Why don't you just join Amway? I'm not talking about the guy with the bullhorn the cops keep chasing out of Times Square. I'm talking about people I know. They don't want me to be their friend. They want me to be their little project. Get bent.
- Some say they believe xyz and then live abc. Forget that noise. You don't really believe jack shit. I know that, you know that. Hypocrites.
- Some believe and live xyz, but then cough up lame reasons why. Why are the reasons lame? OK. I get faith, or at least the principle. It means you believe in stuff you can't see or prove. But you still got a reason, but you don't know what it is. So, what do they do? They tell me someone else's reason. They tell me these cute little stories, but I can tell they don't know what they are talking about.
- Some believe and live xyz. Fine. Nice. Good for you. Same as the group above? No. They may or may not actually have a good reason (or good to them), but they don't want to tell me. Oh, they'll get upset when I tell them I don't think much of Jesus freaks, but they have no balls to actually stand up for what they believe. Hell, even the Muslims will do that. What kicks me too is how they'll tell everything that's screwed up in the world, but then when asked a serious question about god, cower underneath their momma's blanket. What are you afraid of?
- There's a last category I do respect. They believe xyz, try to live xyz, and make no bones about pretending they don't get it right. Damn straight. They do stuff people don't see and you might not know it if you didn't happen to catch them in the act. They don't cram it down my throat but they aren't afraid to talk about it, and they don't pretend to have all the answers and they don't run from talking about it either.
Merry Christmas
from the Funky White Boy's home to yours.
Well, just because someone wrote that, doesn't mean God quits existing... You can't delete the most powerful being in the Universe just because you say he doesn't exist...
ReplyDeleteIf the whole world quit believing in Jesus, and God, that doesn't make them just disappear.....
And for your information.... I agree with much of what you believe in...
ReplyDeleteAnd, you aren't my pet project. It makes very little difference to me if you receive God, or Christ... I would be concerned if you became a Muslim because then someday I would have to kill you.
Not too many people care if I go to hell. Why should anyone give a damn if I receive god?
ReplyDeletePardon me for laughing at your comment....
ReplyDeleteI don't think you really believe there is a hell.
If you did, then I know you wouldn't want to go there.
Hell is described as outer darkness, separation for etenity from God, and a place where weeping and gnashing of teeth never ends.
For the Devil and his angels, Jesus said it's a lake of fire.
Hell has a gate, but it's locked from the inside. Hell is ultimately given to people because they reject the gift Jesus gave up on the cross. The world's sins, sickness, and shame were put up onto Jesus on the cross. To a non-believer this is foolishness.
As I wrote above, I don't think you believe there is a hell.
If you did, you would know you don't want to be there.
Second, I don't believe you believe there is a God, or a Jesus. Maybe by intuition, and a built in instinct you have a feeling he is there. Maybe not.
It seems to me that you think anyone who believes that there is a God, is a nut case.
People like me, don't worry one wit what you think. You can't undo what is already there inside me. I have a guy I work with who calls me a foolish a..hole for believing in God.
I don't care what he thinks.
I would be the first person to tell you that I am not perfect in my behavior... And, I certainly don't show perfectly the "Love" that God has for mankind.
You wrote why should anyone give a damn if I receive God? Well, it's not about anybody. It's about you. If you think God is some cold stand offish being that doesn't care about his creation, then you won't care to learn who God is. If you are wrapped up in what you already are, then you won't even see God is right there.
You should be looking out for number one, and that's you....
YOU WROTE >>>>>"Why should anyone give a damn if I receive god?"
God cares if you go to hell. He takes it as a personal insult that you won't approach him. He is the creator of the universe, he's the creator of your soul. He made this creation... He takes it personally that you won't come to him for what he's got for you.....
God didn't say "Funky White Boy" go to hell.
You said go to hell god. In other words you have jeered those who believe in him, and you have made a public showing of that disbelief.
However, God's waiting for you to approach. I am not your judge. I am not your jury.
I don't think you understand that God is a real living active being. He is as real as I am out here in space on the Internet.
The bible states; if you will seek me (God, Jesus) with all your heart, you'll find me.
He offers peace that surpasses the world's understanding of peace. He offers to go out ahead of you in your life and plan your destiny.
He offers you a personal relationship that when you pray, he listens to every word.
He even puts your picture up on his refrigerator door.
So, who cares if you receive God? WELL HE DOES>
You should do it just because you want the best that life has for you..........
Finally you'll get all eternity with God, and Jesus where there is no pain, and there are no tears, and there is peace.
You'll be alive for all eternity anyway. GOING UP, OR GOING DOWN. You'll always be. You have a soul that won't die. And some day it will be reunited with that body again in hell, or with God in heaven, and the rebuilt earth...
Salvation is a free gift from Jesus.. You can't earn it. Just ask God, he'll give it to you.
I was a sinner... You too have the same nature.
You'll have to see who you are compared to God. We all disobeyed God. He says come to me, receive Jesus as your SAVIOUR. Jesus said follow me.... As many as received him he gives the right to become the children of God.
By the way: I follow what is called the trinity. I am not a Mormon, Jehovah Witness, or anyone of those other groups that rejects Jesus as GOD. Jesus is God come down.
I somehow missed this comment, David, and am glad you thoughtfully responded. I am sorry to reply so mucxh later.
ReplyDeleteI'm dead serious in my question, so I am glad you took it seriously.
I know what I believe, but I also know that there are nut cases out there. Yeah, I say there are a lot of holy roller nut jobs. I don't mean Pat Robertson, but joes who really live what they believe. I don't know too many. Too many make excuses to hate each other that I think they are just liars when it comes to believing anything. The people I respect sometimes are the nut jobs. They say they believe in God then, actually seem different. Most don't seem like being a Christian makes a damn bit of difference.
I'm tired but I will read more carefully and then figure out whatb this blasted blog didn't send me a message that you responded over a week ago.
Jesus talked about Wheat, and Tares.. He used a parable about the farmer who planted a wheat crop.
ReplyDeleteThe farmers enemies came along and planted weeds in the farmers field. When the wheat came up, it was discovered that there was wheat growing with grassy weeds.
When the farmers hands told the farmer they offered to pull up the weeds (Tares).
The farmed said no let the wheat grow with the weeds because pulling up the weeds or Tares would pull up the wheat crop.
When the wheat was harvested the wheat was separated from the weeds.
Well that's what you are seeing today. You are seeing the Wheat, and the weeds growing up together in the same churches.
God is the farmer. He won't pull up the weeds until it's time to get the wheat.
Otherwise pulling out the weeds from amoung the church members who are real Christians would destroy the church.
God sees what's inside of our hearts. This is something that you and I can't do.
People don't understand that there may be saved Christians out there but they don't behave that way. This is the Irony of the Christian Faith.
There are people out there who say they are Christians, and God knows their hearts aren't for him.
There are people out there who may be hard to deal with, but they actually do love God.
God only knows.
So we can't be too judgemental.
I know what you are talking about though.
Recently I had to tell to friends of mine that I don't want to be around them any more. Both claim to be Christians.
Well, the latest one told me that I have serious problems that make it hard for people to accept me... He said I should take medication for depression and should start taking behaviour therapy.
Now, I try my darndest not to get angry, but this guy wouldn't let me off the telephone. Finally I cursed him and got off the phone.
He hasn't called me back since...
I have bent over backwards to be this guys friend to include buying him lunch, and movies, for years now. He's unemployed. So I took care of him. He got over critical of me, and I got tired of it.
He thinks that I am a negative Christian, and am intolerable to be around.. Go figure.....
So what do you think about this: Muslim guy somehow became a Christian. Or he says he has. Looks like it so far as I can tell. Can he go to heaven? He told me the whole story, that he knows the koran, did all kinds of muslim things until some guy in his building started talking Jesus stuff and that he prayed now he's a Christian even goes to church.
ReplyDeleteThat can't be right. I mean so what if he prayed. God doesn't want muslims in heaven does he? He hates them I heard.
